Al's History and Credentials

 

Credentials:
 
 
   Al is a well-known restaurateur and radio personality in San Antonio. He formed Meatball Moments Productions, Inc. Ò in 2004 to produce his thought-provoking and inspirational Meatball Moments Commentaries, airing  on San Antonio talk radio stations. As President of Meatball Moments Productions, he has also produced other radio shows and written, recorded and produced many radio commercials for his restaurant ventures and the businesses of others.
 
                
   Founder of Boccone’s Restaurant, Blanco Rd. in San Antonio.  Purchased a 40 seat restaurant in Cadillac Plaza in 1990.  Expanded the restaurant to seat 120 and brought weekly sales from $10,000 to over $30,000 by 1993 as a result of his personally-written, radio commercials. Moved to Blanco Rd. near Highway1604 in 1994 because of the restaurant’s success, opening the doors at the new location to over $3,000,000 in annualized sales and winning a San Antonio Business Journal Fast Track award as a result.  The new facility employed over 130 people in a 300 seat facility that included five dining rooms and a full-service kitchen and bakery.  Operated the restaurant there until its sale in December of 1999.  The restaurant staff was heavily bi-lingual in English and Spanish and also employed Italian immigrant bakers. 

   Founded and operated Bambino Huey Café , another popular San Antonio Italian restaurant, from 2001-2005.

    


 

 
    Al has written published 2 E-books based on his restaurant experiences: So You Want To Open A Restaurant—Are You Nuts? and another called Meatball Moments Commentaries, both available on Amazon in a Kindle format.
 
Al also founded the Italian Mandolin Band which played at his restaurants and continues to play at engagements today.


History and Education:

    Al was born in Bristol, Connecticut and grew up in an Italian immigrant family. He is married to Adriana DiLiberto who was born in Sicily and grew up in Sydney, Australia.

    Bachelor of Science (BS) in English and Spanish Central Connecticut State University with honors work in Spanish. Additionally did graduate work in Spanish linguistics at Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut.  Taught Spanish for two years after graduating college, has an excellent command of Spanish and is fluent also in Italian.


Additional Business History:
 
    Registered Financial Principal in his own National Association of Securities Dealers (NASD) investment firm in Connecticut, providing venture capital to real estate and oil and gas ventures in New England and Texas, and has extensive insurance and investment sales, business, restaurant and radio experience.
